With the broader adoption of the use of Internet and e-mail services, we need to be aware that this convenience does not come without risks.

The Internet offers the potential for safe, convenient new ways to conduct banking business, any day, any time. However, safe banking online involves making good choices. To ensure that you have proper safeguards in place, please remember:

  • Apply vendor-supplied software patches in a timely manner – contact your hardware and software suppliers or Internet Service Provider to ensure you have the latest in security updates
  • Install anti-virus software and keep it up to date
  • Use caution when opening email attachments - do not open unsolicited e-mails or e-mail attachments unless you requested the information as they could contain malicious contents
  • Do not follow links embedded in e-mails – simply copy and paste or retype the e-mail address into your Internet Browser address field
  • Do not share your log on information such as user id and passwords with anybody including Charlotte State Bank employees

  • Verify the URL in the Internet Browser's address field to be the correct internet web page you are trying to access.
